TOP COUNTRIES EXPORTING CANNED PINEAPPLE

Among continents, Asia generated the highest dollar worth in international sales of canned pineapple. The revenue of the canned pineapple market in Asia amounted to $990M in 2018, the amount stood at about 842K tonnes, the canned pineapple production stood at 1.7M tonnes. In there, In value terms, canned pineapple exports stood at $796M.

The top 4 exporters were Thai Lan, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam. Collectively, that quartet of leading pineapples canned suppliers generated over 90% of all globally exported pineapples in 2018 by value.

Thailand represented the key exporting country with an export of about 412K tonnes, which recorded 49% of total exports. The Philippines (221K tonnes) held a 26% share (based on tonnes) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Indonesia (19%). Viet Nam (20K tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2008 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by the Philippines, while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, Thailand ($404M) remains the largest canned pineapple supplier in Asia, comprising 51% of total canned pineapple exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Philippines ($192M), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 20% share.

The canned pineapple export price in Asia stood at $945 per tonne in 2018. Average export prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries.In which,Vietnam has the lowest price. In 2018, major exporting countries recorded the following export prices: in Thailand ($979 per tonne) and Indonesia ($975 per tonne), while Viet Nam ($817 per tonne) and the Philippines ($868 per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
